Prepare for the Keys—and for What Comes After
The ECM Homeownership Academy is a practical, accountability-centered program for first-time and first-generation buyers. You will learn how to evaluate readiness, strengthen credit and cash flow, compare mortgage offers, work with housing professionals, prepare for closing, and protect your home after purchase.
What you will build
- A written homebuyer readiness plan
- A realistic housing budget and cash-to-close target
- A credit and debt improvement strategy
- A lender-comparison and property-evaluation checklist
- A sustainable homeownership plan for maintenance, emergencies, and long-term stability
Professional learning standard
Each module includes a roadmap, clear instruction, real-world examples, skill practice, a written assignment, reflection, accountability, and a knowledge check. Students must complete the required activities and meet the course completion standard.
Important: This course provides general education and preparation. It is not legal, tax, lending, real-estate, or individualized financial advice. Program requirements vary by lender and loan product. ECM does not claim HUD approval. If your lender requires education from a particular provider, confirm acceptance before relying on this certificate. For individualized housing counseling, use a HUD-participating housing counseling agency.
